5 Things to Set on Your Fujifilm X100VI Before Your Next Trip
I took my X100VI to France and Spain for three weeks and came back with some hard-learned lessons about setup. These are the five things I wish I’d configured before I left. Dial these in before your next trip and thank yourself later.
1 — Pre-load your custom recipes Don’t wait until you’re standing in front of the Eiffel Tower to figure out which recipe you want to shoot on. Go into your camera settings before you leave and load every recipe you plan to use into your custom slots so they’re at your fingertips when the moment happens. If you don’t have recipes yet — that’s a whole other conversation, but start there first.
2 — Set a record button shortcut This is a game changer for video and one of the most underused features on the X100VI. Assigning the record button as a shortcut means you never miss a moment fumbling through menus. I made a full TikTok walking through exactly how to do this — watch it here: Tiktok
3 — Get a lens hood and 49mm adapter ring I didn’t have one in France and I paid for it every single time I shot in bright daylight — flare, washed out skies, the works. The X100VI doesn’t ship with a lens hood and in sunny destinations it’s not optional, it’s essential. I use this one and it comes with the 49mm adapter ring and cap: 👉 go.shopmy.us/p-54689142
4 — Configure your power management The X100VI will drain your battery faster than you expect if you leave everything on default. Here’s exactly what I set:
Auto Power Off: 1 minute
Performance: Normal
EVF Boost: 100p
Auto Power Off Temp: Standard
These settings keep the camera responsive without killing your battery mid-shoot.
5 — Image size and quality Set your image size to Large at 3:2 ratio — that’s 7728 x 5152 pixels and around 18MB per file. This is the largest file size the X100VI shoots at and gives you maximum flexibility in post.
